“Mendicants, there are five ways of declaring enlightenment.“Pañcimāni, bhikkhave, aññābyākaraṇāni. What five?Katamāni pañca? One declares enlightenment out of stupidity and folly.Mandattā momūhattā aññaṁ byākaroti; Or because of corrupt wishes, being of wishful temperament.pāpiccho icchāpakato aññaṁ byākaroti; Or because of madness and mental disorder.ummādā cittakkhepā aññaṁ byākaroti; Or out of overestimation.adhimānena aññaṁ byākaroti; Or one declares enlightenment rightly.sammadeva aññaṁ byākaroti. These are the five ways of declaring enlightenment.”Imāni kho, bhikkhave, pañca aññābyākaraṇānī”ti.
