The Peacock: a past life story9. Morajātaka

This Clear-eyed One arises, the One King,“Udetayañ cakkhumā ekarājā, palomino-colored, shining over the earth.Harissavaṇṇo pathavippabhāso; I bow especially to you, palomino-colored, shining over the earth:Taṁ taṁ namassāmi harissavaṇṇaṁ pathavippabhāsaṁ, guarded by you let us live out this day.Tayājja guttā viharemu divasaṁ.

Those brahmins who are knowledge-masters with respect to all things,Ye brāhmaṇā vedagū sabbadhamme, I worship them, may they keep me safe.Te me namo te ca maṁ pālayantu; Hail the Awakened Ones, hail Awakening!Namatthu buddhānaṁ namatthu bodhiyā, Homage to the freed ones, homage to freedom!Namo vimuttānaṁ namo vimuttiyā; Having made this protection,Imaṁ so parittaṁ katvā, the peacock wanders seeking.Moro carati esanā.
