“Mendicants, when a mendicant is grounded in one thing the five faculties become developed, well developed.“Ekadhamme patiṭṭhitassa, bhikkhave, bhikkhuno pañcindriyāni bhāvitāni honti subhāvitāni. What one thing?Katamasmiṁ ekadhamme? Diligence.Appamāde. And what is diligence?Katamo ca bhikkhave, appamādo? It’s when a mendicant looks after their mind when it comes to defilements and things accompanied by defilements.Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu cittaṁ rakkhati āsavesu ca sāsavesu ca dhammesu. As they do so the faculties of faith,Tassa cittaṁ rakkhato āsavesu ca sāsavesu ca dhammesu saddhindriyampi bhāvanāpāripūriṁ gacchati. energy,Vīriyindriyampi bhāvanāpāripūriṁ gacchati. mindfulness,Satindriyampi bhāvanāpāripūriṁ gacchati. immersion,Samādhindriyampi bhāvanāpāripūriṁ gacchati. and wisdom are fully developed.Paññindriyampi bhāvanāpāripūriṁ gacchati. That’s how when a mendicant is grounded in one thing the five faculties become developed, well developed.”Evampi kho, bhikkhave, ekadhamme patiṭṭhitassa bhikkhuno pañcindriyāni bhāvitāni honti subhāvitānī”ti.
