Because of focusing on the wrong things,“Ayoniso manasikārā, I was addicted to ornamentation.maṇḍanaṁ anuyuñjisaṁ; I was vain, fickle,Uddhato capalo cāsiṁ, racked by desire for pleasures of the senses.kāmarāgena aṭṭito.

But with the help of the Buddha,Upāyakusalenāhaṁ, the Kinsman of the Sun, so skilled in means,buddhenādiccabandhunā; I practiced rationally and extractedYoniso paṭipajjitvā, attachment to continued existence from my mind.bhave cittaṁ udabbahin”ti.
