I was the only one in my family“Ekopi saddho medhāvī, who had faith and wisdom.assaddhānīdha ñātinaṁ; It’s good for my relatives that I’mDhammaṭṭho sīlasampanno, firm in principle, and ethical.hoti atthāya bandhunaṁ.

I curbed my family out of sympathy,Niggayha anukampāya, telling them off out of lovecoditā ñātayo mayā; for my family and relatives.Ñātibandhavapemena, They performed a service for the monkskāraṁ katvāna bhikkhusu.

and then they passed away,Te abbhatītā kālaṅkatā, finding happiness in the Third Heaven.pattā te tidivaṁ sukhaṁ; There, my brothers and motherBhātaro mayhaṁ mātā ca, enjoy all the pleasures they desire.modanti kāmakāmino”ti.
