Listen up, all my relatives,“Suṇātha ñātayo sabbe, those who have gathered here:yāvantettha samāgatā; I’ll teach you Dhamma!Dhammaṁ vo desayissāmi, Painful is birth again and again.dukkhā jāti punappunaṁ.

Rouse yourselves, try harder!Ārambhatha nikkamatha, Devote yourselves to the instructions of the Buddha!Yuñjatha buddhasāsane; Crush the army of death,Dhunātha maccuno senaṁ, as an elephant a hut of reeds.Naḷāgāraṁva kuñjaro.

Whoever shall meditate diligentlyYo imasmiṁ dhammavinaye, in this teaching and training,appamatto vihassati; giving up transmigration,Pahāya jātisaṁsāraṁ, will make an end to suffering.dukkhassantaṁ karissatī”ti.
